History, meaning of the name
The name Bulbine bulbosa comes from the Greek word bolbos and the Latin word bulbu, which both mean “bulb”. The Latin word bulbosa comes from bulbosus, which means “bulbous”. This refers to the bulb-shaped tuber that is found under the rootstock of the plant.
